Mokita Dialogues: Drugs & Alcohol

March 23, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

From the language Kilivila, spoken near Papua New Guinea, mokita means “a known truth that is left unspoken.” Think of it as, “the elephant in the room.” These brown bag luncheon discussions will address some of the elephants among us, critical social concerns that impact the mental well-being of our residents and the development of our community. Each Mokita(TM) Dialogue session will include presentations, group discussions, activities, and opportunities for follow-up and action.

Drugs & Alcohol, facilitated by Karlene Shugars, Centre County Drug & Alcohol

Thursday, March 23, 2017

Noon-1pm

New Leaf Initiative (243 S Allen Street, Suite 337, State College)

Drug and alcohol abuse and overdose have reached epidemic proportions across the nation.  Addiction affects everyone—from the individual, to the family, to the colleagues in the workplace.  This dialogue will focus on how this epidemic is impacting our community and what can be done to combat the problem.
