Marisa Vicere, Jana Marie Foundation
According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), 1 in 5 adolescents ages 13-18 have or will have a mental health disorder. The latest Pennsylvania Youth Survey (PAYS) data for students in grades 6 -12 shows that 1 in 6 students have seriously considered suicide, 1 in 8 have a plan to die by suicide, 1 in 10 have attempted suicide. During this Straight Talk session, Marisa Vicere from the Jana Marie Foundation will discuss how to engage our youth in important conversations about mental wellness and suicide prevention. Join us to discuss current mental health trends and positive parenting strategies to connect with young people.
Straight Talk is brought to you by Jana Marie Foundation, State College Area School District, Communities that Care, and Youth Service Bureau.
