Have you ever talked to your kids about race or racism? Do you believe it is an important conversation to have? Come find out about how not having this conversation can send a clear message to kids that the topic is taboo and off limits. Participants will leave the workshop with conversation starters, a list of books to help learn more about diversity, and an awareness of why the topic is important to talk with kids about.
The Straight Talk Series presents educational programs that help parents and caregivers to recognize, understand, and deal with potential problems that can surface during developmental years. Be proactive. Learn the warning signs. Learn how to help our youth before the problem affects him or her, impacts school work, or influences family relationships.
The Straight Talk series is brought to the area by the Jana Marie Foundation, State College Area School District, Youth Service Bureau and Communities that Care.
