‘Mo’ is our mascot and travels around the Centre Region and beyond! This 5 1/2′ chalkboard elephant provides a place for people to acknowledge their elephants and the healthy ways they cope. Mo made its first debut out at our Mokita® Dialogue session in February 2017 and has since traveled around to mental health performances and events to help raise awareness and promote dialogue.
All Mokita Dialogues are being held virtually at this time. To join the meeting via Zoom, please visit tinyurl.com/MokitaDialogues

Everyone has a story. Everyone has an elephant. What’s yours?
Jana Marie Foundation uses interactive displays, art exhibits and workshops to provide people with a safe space to acknowledge ‘mokitas‘ that exist in their own life, as well as in the community. With our series of discussions, exhibits and interactive displays, the Jana Marie Foundation brings to light topics of social concern that often go unaddressed and sometimes unnoticed.

Mokita(R) Dialogue are periodic, community-based conversations facilitated by Jana Marie Foundation that bring people together across generations to explore mental wellness, connection, and shared humanity.
The word mokita refers to “the truth we all know, but agree not to talk about.” These dialogues create intentional, safe spaces where honest conversations can happen—fostering understanding, reducing stigma, and strengthening community bonds.
Through guided discussion and thoughtful reflection, Mokita(R) Dialogues focus on collective mental wellness, encouraging participants of all ages to listen, share, and learn from one another. By bridging generations and perspectives, these conversations help build empathy, resilience, and a deeper sense of belonging.
Mokita Dialogues are offered periodically throughout the year. Check back for upcoming conversations or contact Jana Marie Foundation to learn more.

Poetry is a powerful medium for finding and sharing truths. In this five part series we will look at the ‘elephants’ that exist within ourselves and within the community and have the option to share in a safe class environment and/or in a public reading of original work on the final day. Throughout our time, we’ll explore several types of poetry and poets past and contemporary as we delve deeper into our familiar favorites and gently challenge each other to try something new. We will learn, we will grow, above all, we will strive to have a lot of fun!

Mo2Go is a take-home extension of Mokita(R) Dialogues designed to help families continue meaningful conversations beyond community gatherings. This thoughtfully curated kit supports families in exploring truths that often go unspoken—creating space for connection, understanding, and shared mental wellness at home.
Each Mo2Go kit includes a conversation guide that walks caregivers and young people through typical developmental stages, offers age-appropriate conversation starters, and provides practical tips for beginning and sustaining these important discussions. The guide is designed to reduce fear and uncertainty around “hard conversations” and empower families to talk openly with confidence and care.
Mo2Go helps normalize dialogue around mental and emotional health, strengthen family connections, and reinforce the idea that no one has to navigate life’s challenges alone.
