    This presentation will provide an overview of the impact of social media on youth today. In the digital age, approximately 91% of teens use their mobile phones to go online and access social media accounts. Teens are faced with a variety of societal pressures including maintaining their online presence. This presentation will provide a brief overview of the different types and forms of online communication (texting, IM messaging, Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Tinder...) as well as how your teen is dealing with a variety of transitions, relationships, cyberbullying, self-image, and everyday loss. The presenters will also provide tips on how to communicate with your teen regarding their online presence. Attendees will be encouraged to participate.

You are more likely to encounter someone — friend, family member, student, neighbor, or member of the community — in an emotional or mental crisis than someone having a heart attack. Youth Mental Health First Aid teaches a 5-step action plan to offer initial help to young people showing signs of a mental illness or in a crisis, and connect them with the appropriate professional, peer, social, or self help care.
